Ancient Dance in Modern Dancers

Tuesday, May 20, 2014 -
12:30pm to 5:00pm
St Hilda’s College
Jacqueline du Pre theatre

“Ancient Dance in Modern Dancers” are pleased to offer open practical workshops in skills comparable to those employed in Graeco-Roman dance. The embodiment of character and emotion, the ability to convey a narrative without words, and the relationship of the dancer to the mask are three essential components of the ancient form which have living correlatives in current dance practice.

Participants are invited to attend one or more of the following sessions:

Tuesday May 20th, 12.30 – 5pm: Physical Storytelling with Yael Karavan

Wednesday May 21st, 12pm – 5pm: Neutral Mask with Marie-Louise Crawley

All workshops will take place in the Jacqueline du Pre theatre, St Hilda’s College. Free of charge but advance booking is essential as places are limited.
