The Language of Love

Friday, February 16, 2018 -
6:00pm to 6:45pm
Somerville Chapel, Somerville College, Woodstock Road, OXFORD

You’re invited to join us for a programme of music and literature inspired by love, with a snippet of science revealing how a ‘love hormone’ drives the forces of attraction and social bonding. Come and hear about the codes of chivalry in medieval times, love in Dante’s Inferno and our choral scholars singing settings of poetry by Shelley and Rossetti. There’s a new composition by one of our Junior Research Fellows, inspired by ‘On Love’ by Khalil Gibran, and a star turn from our very own Professor of History, Benjamin Thompson.

Please RSVP to so we know how many to expect for refreshments.
