Natalia Doan is a DPhil Candidate in Oriental Studies at the University of Oxford. Her research explores nineteenth century transnational interactions between Japan and the United States. She received an MSc in Modern Japanese Studies from the Nissan Institute of Japanese Studies at the University of Oxford in 2015. In 2016, she was awarded the Ivan Morris Memorial Prize from the British Association for Japanese Studies for the best dissertation in the UK on the subject of Japan. Natalia is the author of How to Work, Travel, and Study in Japan (2014).
