Non-Stipendiary Research Associates at Wadham College

Wadham College invites applications for four fixed-term, non-stipendiary, Research Associate positions (one from each Division), to be held from 1st January 2015, for up to two years in the first instance. The posts are intended to enhance academic communication and connections within the MCR, and post-holders should make significant contributions to increasing intellectual exchange within the College. The organisation of research seminars will be an important part of this, and post-holders will receive £500 per year for expenses: e.g. to cover speaker costs and refreshments at seminars; in addition to an honorarium of £200 per term. Post-holders will also be expected to co-edit the College’s graduate publication, The Wadham Journal. Dining rights form part of the appointment, and post-holders will be offered one SCR dinner in hall per week in weeks 0-9, and one SCR dinner or lunch per week out of term. The post-holder will be given associate membership of the MCR.

Successful candidates will have a PhD or DPhil, or will shortly graduate PhD or DPhil. They will have produced research of a high quality (taking into account their career stage), and it is anticipated that they will have an ongoing contractual relationship with a faculty or department in Oxford. The committee will consider the degree to which candidates’ careers may be enhanced by such an association, and equally the ways in which candidates are likely to enrich the academic life of the college. This is a new position and the post-holder will be required to demonstrate initiative in indicating how they would develop the post at the time of application, with particular emphasis on how they would contribute to the enrichment of academic life in the College, and to enhancing the relationship between the graduate body and Fellowship.

The deadline for applications is noon on Friday, 31st October, 2014 (3rd Week). Please click here for further information and application details.
