Olivia Sheringham

Research Officer at the International Migration Institute (as part of the Oxford Diasporas Programme)

Olivia Sheringham is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Geography, Queen Mary University of London and Research Officer at the International Migration Institute, University of Oxford. She completed her PhD in Human Geography at Queen Mary in 2011 and her research explored the role of religion in the everyday lives of Brazilian migrants in London and their transnational ties to Brazil. 

Her research interests include transnationalism; return migration; and identity, home and belonging- with a particular focus on Latin American migration. She is also interested in processes of creolization, both in historical contexts relating to slavery and contemporary urban spaces of encounter.
