This project is designed to bring together graduate students in literary studies and their supervisors drawn from faculties of Modern Languages (including English and German) across institutions in Oxford and Berlin. The purpose is to train students in new methodologies in transnational literary studies, across period boundaries, alongside leading experts in the field; and to facilitate the exchange of cutting-edge research in literary studies between Oxford and Berlin that could form the basis for future collaborations and applications for external funding. It consists of two one-and-a-half day workshops to take place in Berlin and Oxford respectively in the course of the 2018-19 academic year, and culminates in a public presentation of the outcomes within the context of the Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften (the Long Night of the Sciences, June 2019), a high-profile, large-scale public event organised using university and public spaces in Berlin.

The project is funded by the Oxford-Berlin Research Partnership.
