UK China Humanities Alliance – Early-Career Visiting Fellowships

UK China

We invite doctoral students and early career scholars (up to 5 years post PhD) within the Arts and Humanities to apply for a short-term fellowship in China.

The fellowships are worth up to £2,500, and are funded by the British Council.

These fellowships are intended to support trips of c.2 weeks that will deepen and broaden research links with Chinese academics and/or further individual research projects in archives and collections.

Evidence of an invitation from a suitable host institution in China will be needed. This need not be a formal letter at this stage, but an email from a senior scholar expressing willingness to host a visit would be appropriate. Your trip should be more than simply presenting a paper at a conference, and must be completed by the end of March 2019.

Applicants are responsible for arranging their own travel, visas and accommodation etc.

Preference may be given to those intending to visit/work with Beijing University, Tsingua University, Fudan University, Wuhan University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Foreign Studies University and Shanghai International Studies University.

How to apply:

- Provide a description of the proposed research project, including an outline budget (no more than 1 page)
- Provide a short CV (no more than 1 page).
