Conducting Interviews for Research

Process of preparing for and carrying out interviews, and incorporating results into their thesis or research output. The workshop aims to cover:

  • Types of interviews and their purposes
  • Ethical considerations, vulnerable groups and safety
  • Obtaining informed consent
  • Preparing questions
  • Recording and transcription
  • Referencing interviews in research outputs
  • Storing, securing and anonymising interview data

 

This workshop is open to all students and researchers who will be conducting interviews for the purpose of their research. It will be delivered by Dr Rebecca Ehata, a social researcher with 10 years experience interviewing migrants, minority communities and policy-makers.
