This conference has been POSTPONED. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope you will understand our decision in light of the uncertainty arising from recent global events. We hope to rearrange this event in the future, and details will be posted on the website in due course.

Judith McKenzie’s contributions to the field of classical and late antique archaeology and architectural history can hardly be overstated. Her work on the architecture of Petra and Khirbet et-Tannur is foundational for archaeologists working on any aspect of Nabataean culture. Likewise, her study of the architecture of Alexandria and Egypt have reshaped our understanding of cultural exchanges and artistic traditions of Egypt, Greece, Rome and the Middle East from the Hellenistic period to the early Islamic world. In order to honour her and remember her work, this two-day conference will bring together international scholars to present their current research on ancient architecture, exchange ideas, and commemorate Judith’s enduring legacy.

Attendance and refreshments, including lunch, are free, but spaces are limited so please book a place by emailing: miranda.williams@classics.ox.ac.uk
