Heritage Pathways: Authenticity in Chinese Heritage

In this first session for Hilary term researchers will be introduced to current best practice at Chinese heritage sites, exploring different approaches to the question of authenticity.

 

Speakers:

 

  • Dr Anke Hein, Peter Moores Associate Professor in Chinese Archaeology at the University of Oxford and Dr Christopher Foster, Stanley Ho Junior Research Fellow at Pembroke College, Oxford. Anke and Christopher lead a TORCH Heritage Seed Funded project exploring the construction of authenticity in China’s cultural heritage.
  • Jennifer Richards - doctoral researcher in the Landscape Dynamics Research Cluster. Her work explores the use of site-scale, natural approaches to conservation of earthen heritage sites in north west China.
