Magdalena Charzyńska-Wójcik PhD is Associate Professor at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (Poland), where she is chair of the Department of the History of English and Translation Studies. Her major research interest lies in historical translations of the Psalter, with special focus on prose translations from Latin into Old, Middle and Early Modern English. She also deals with metrical translations of the Scottish Psalter. Apart from English-language translations, she works on renditions of the Psalter into Polish, and in particular on a 16th-century prose translation from Latin. She deals with various aspects of Psalter translations related to linguistics, translation studies, palaeography, codicology and the cultural reception of the Book of Psalms. She has been invited to deliver guest lectures and plenary talks on the Psalter by universities in Poland and abroad. Her monograph Text and Context in Jerome's Psalters. Prose Translations into Old, Middle and Early Modern English (2013) offers a complete gloss to Psalms 1-50 of the Old English Paris Psalter. She is currently working on a Psalter translation made at the exiled court of King James II (1700).
