Stephen is a Clarendon Scholar and holder of the Greendale Scholarship at Merton College, University of Oxford, where is currently undertaking the first year of a DPhil in English. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Stephen holds an MSt in English Language from Oxford and an MA in Linguistics from the University of the Witwatersrand. His doctoral thesis focuses on the representation of queer genders and sexualities in English dictionaries from the seventeenth century to the present day. His research interests include the history of English, lexicography, and sociolinguistics.
