Call for Linguamania LiveFriday Ideas from Early Career Researchers and Doctoral Students

LinguaMania

On 27th January 2017, Creative Multilingualism will team up with the Ashmolean Museum for LinguaMania, a special late night opening of the museum to explore the ways in which multilingualism and creativity interact.

LinguaMania is part of the Ashmolean’s LiveFriday series of public engagement events, which give visitors the opportunity to experience the Museum and its collections after hours.

We are seeking ideas from early career researchers and doctoral students at the University of Oxford for activities to take place at the event, to complement those already on the programme. Activities may include workshops, (interactive) performances, bite-size talks, and film screenings, and should aim to give visitors an increased understanding that languages are:

 connected with creativity - ideally by experiencing this
 enriching and fun
 fundamental to our identity as human beings and our sense of belonging to cultural groups

We are particularly keen to hear about ideas that tie in with an object or objects in the Ashmolean collections.

Please submit your idea in less than 500 words, including your full name, Faculty/Department and how it could feed back into your research to creativeml@mod-langs.ox.ac.uk.

Deadline for proposals: 12 noon, Friday 25th November
