Caroline Collingridge has a B.Mus (Hons), B.Ed. (Music), ARCM (flute) and has completed an M.Ed. course in Creative Arts in Therapy (Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education, London). She studied flute privately with Christopher Hyde-Smith (RCM), Edward Beckett (GSM) and has attended numerous flute masterclasses, particularly with William Bennett (RAM). She has taught class music and flute in schools and privately all over London and the south-east. She has performed as a soloist, in ensembles and orchestras in the UK and abroad (Spain, Romania, Belgium, Austria, The Netherlands and Alaska). In the 1990s she was an advisor to the Arts Council on Women in the Arts in Europe and facilitator at the first Arts Council Women in Arts National Symposium, 1993. Recent researches have included the music of Avril Coleridge-Taylor (first performances this century of five flute and piano pieces), Lilian Elkington, Nancy Dalberg and other neglected composers. As well as performance and composition, she writes poetry and short stories. She lives in Worthing, West Sussex.
