Humanities Innovation Challenge Returns

The Humanities Innovation Challenge (HIC), a competition to identify and support innovative and entrepreneurial ideas emerging from the humanities, is now open for submissions.

A collaboration between Oxford University Innovation (OUI) and The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH), staff and students in Humanities with an idea for a social enterprise, startup business or impactful project are encouraged to apply to the HIC.

Finalists will be invited to attend a live “dragon’s den” style pitching session, with the winner walking away with:

£1,000 in cash to kickstart the idea
£5,000 of in-kind support and mentoring
Invitation to a dinner hosted for the Innovation Challenge
Invitation to the Oxford Innovation Society networking event and dinner
Media support for a press release
Support for funding opportunities, through the crowdfunding platform OxReach, or through three other Oxford University Innovation funds
Possible entry into the Oxford Startup Incubator with access to networking, funding, marketing, legal, and accounting services, or development of a University spinout company and help with team building.
Second and third place entries will receive £3,000 and £2,000 worth of support, respectively, with invitations to the networking dinners.
