New performance commission with Oxford Playhouse

There has been renewed attention in recent weeks on the plight of the UK’s creative industries, and in particular freelance creatives. From actors to stage managers, playwrights to designers, the lack of live performance is hitting hard.

TORCH and Oxford Playhouse are delighted to announce a co-commission through the Humanities Cultural Programme for OP’s digital autumn season – Do You Love Me Yet? created by Jocelyn Cox and Samuel E. Taylor.

What is your most treasured memory?

When did you last cry in front of another person?

Do you have a secret hunch about how you will die?

Two actors meet for the first time on Zoom. Unknown to each other. Unrehearsed. They are invited to be brave. Be spontaneous. Be themselves. Do You Love Me Yet? is a funny, touching, live experiment into human intimacy.

Performances from 2-7 November, with a post-show Q&A with TORCH Director Professor Wes Williams and the creative team on Wednesday 4 November.

As part of our commitment through the Humanities Cultural Programme to foster and promote the exchange of knowledge, research, and practice between theatre makers and the University, TORCH and Oxford Playhouse are supporting the development of two further commissions: local artist Euton Daley’s Still Breathing and GymJam’s Anthropocene: The Human Era.
