A Week at TORCH

Why am I interested in TORCH?

I am excited by the investment in the humanities region and its interdisciplinary potentials. The TORCH website has highlighted to me that people are genuinely interested in not only keeping the humanities division alive but investing in it with new and fresh approaches to how it can be used in research and policy. The opportunity to work behind the scenes with key people at this centre is both inspiring for a young academic and also a reminder of the job prospects for those working towards a research-driven future.

summary of Monday activities:

- entered the TORCH website from the admin side, seeing how it is managed and tweaked

- deleted duplicate files to make the website's transition smoother later in the year

- made names of some files clearer, such as capitalising

- improved alt text for many images, varying from paintings to photos of conferences

- analysed five potential websites for auditing the TORCH site's accessibility and created a document of my findings
