This lecture is based on the project that I am developing and that aims to offer a study of the Brazilian audiovisual produced in the first two decades of the 21st century. It asks if the audio-visual imaginary is capable of offering new actors, new narratives and new outlooks on and for Brazil. In order to answer this question, it is essential to take into account the existing narratives, both in previous audio-visual works and in their analyses, as well, and, above all, in the human and social sciences in general – that is: in literary studies, art history, sociology, anthropology, etc. This is necessary to enable a comparative study that will be able to clarify if a change is under way regarding the prevailing imaginary and discourses.
