The Southern Journal for Contemporary History, in collaboration with the Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) at the University of Oxford, is pleased to invite applications for a two-day virtual workshop designed for early-career researchers and graduate students from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The workshop is focused on supporting participants in publishing their research on African history in international academic journals.
Key sessions will include:

Foundations of academic writing and research design

The peer review process, revision, and journal submission

Engaging with transnational African history and bridging North and Sub-Saharan Africa

Addressing language barriers and integrating MENA histories into global African historiography
The workshop will be conducted in English, with simultaneous Arabic interpretation.
Eligibility: Open to MA/PhD candidates and early-career researchers based in or working on the MENA region.
