Everything is Connected Season 2023
October – November 2023
Part of the Humanities Cultural Programme

Everything is Connected is a two-month programme of activity delivered October - November 2023 underpinned by four broad thematic strands of activity inspired by the idea that everything is connected in the human and natural world.

This programme is part of the lead-up to the arrival of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities in 2025.  The season will signal a curatorial approach and sow seeds for future programmes. Wide-ranging topics linked to the environmental humanities will be explored through events dispersed across the City of Oxford and online, targeted primarily toward the city and the region, and with a national and international appeal.

Delivery of the programme will commit to exacting ecological standards, and set an environmental benchmark for future event delivery.

In addition to HCP-produced programmes, we are connecting with local organisations, to explore the thematic below, reframe existing activity and suggest new partnership projects, enriched by academic 'deep delve' perspective where feasible.

Thematic strands:

Wonder: We notice what we can learn from nature's extraordinary systems and places.

Awareness: We notice how we leave our mark on the natural world.

Relearn: We reconsider the stories we tell ourselves about the past and the present.

Imagine: We imagine and share the stories that will help us to live more sustainability in the future.

The project is at an early stage of development and we are now looking for students and researchers from Oxford University to take part in this exciting season. The full programme will be in place for announcement in July 2023.
