Celebrating the achievements of women composers over the past 100 years, the Faculty of Music presents a concert on the eve of International Women’s Day. A mixture of small and large chamber ensemble pieces, the concert will feature counter tenor Roderick Morris performing Nicola LeFanu’s captivating setting of Garcia Lorca’s poem La Cancion de la Luna, violinist Madeline Easton performing Lili Boulanger’s D’un Matin de Printemps, and the world premiere of Oxford-based Welsh composer Rhian Samuel’s On This Precious Earth, as well as works by Russian composer, Galina Ustvolskaya, and English composer, Elisabeth Lutyens. The programme will conclude with a rare performance of the original orchestration of Germaine Tailleferre’s Concerto pour Piano et 12 Instruments, with pianist Daniel Grimwood and Sinfonia Adesso, conducted by Cayenna Ponchione.
