It’s a pleasure to invite Oxford and Penn grads (postdocs, JRFs) to an informal “research salon” hosted by Melissa Gniadek on Thursday 30 March, 11am EST / 4pm PST.   Please send this opportunity ‘round to your lists, ask scholars to email us and let us know — by Thursday 16 March if possible — if they would like to participate:

—  as a presenter: a kind of low-stakes lightning-talk scenario. No need for a prepared script or Powerpoint; just expect to talk briefly about your work. How does your research intersect with Environmental Humanities; what’s something specific you’re working on right now; is there a question/challenge you’d like to talk through with others?

  OR

––  as a "sitter-in": an informal opportunity to connect with other EH researchers outside your own disciplinary/departmental space; come prepared to offer thoughts you might have on what others present, offering thoughts or asking them questions in return! Faculty colleagues are also warmly invited to sit in and respond to presenters.

The salon will convene for 2 hours or so, we will likely have time to hear from and chat with 4-6 presenters. Also, some scholars will be gathering in Toronto to call in together to this hybrid gathering. If there are spaces where Penn or Oxford participants might also meet to connect as group, it might be nice — but merely a suggestion!

And finally, for those who may like to join a salon, but can’t make it on the 30th March, we plan another salon for 18 April at 11am/4pm, hosted by Imre Szeman: details to follow soon.
