In the not-too-distant future, a deadly infection called STBO is taking grip across Paris, spread through sex without emotional involvement. A young thief is drawn into a plan to steal its antidote, while also becoming entwined in his own love story. Made at a time of growing awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, Mauvais Sang is Leos Carax’s masterful take on the danger and beauty of modern love. This one-off screening is followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with experts from the fields of history, ethics and modern languages.
