Launch of the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards 2024

vc awards

The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards are a University-wide celebration of our outstanding people.

They celebrate excellence, dedication, courage, ambition and inspirational contributions to Oxford’s mission.

What was previously five separate groups of awards has become a University-wide celebration for staff across Oxford.

The awards recognise the achievements and celebrate success – from our academics and researchers to professional, technical and support staff, whether they are in colleges, divisions, departments, central services, libraries, museums or elsewhere.

It is so important that we take a moment each year to pause and celebrate all the amazing people across this great institution. Across the collegiate University fantastic work is being done, and so we are establishing an event dedicated to recognising and celebrating individual and team successes. Bringing all the awards together as we have this year will help us share our fantastic achievements in teaching, research and other areas – cross-pollinating ideas and inspiring each other with our commitment to Oxford's mission. I encourage all staff to consider making a nomination, and I look forward to announcing the winners in May.

Professor Irene Tracey, Vice-Chancellor CBE FRS FMedSci

There will be 11 categories this year, in a range of strategically important areas – bringing our people together and helping them share ideas and inspiration across all parts of Oxford.

Nominations for the 2023/24 awards opened on Monday 8 January and will close at midday on Monday 19 February. All the information you need to make a nomination can be found below.

Award winners will be announced at a special ceremony hosted by the Vice-Chancellor at the Sheldonian Theatre on Wednesday 8 May, followed by a reception at the Examination Schools. There will also be a week-long showcase of nominations in the Weston Library.
