Maths and History panel discussion. This evening examines cause and effect in mathematics and in history. Sarah Mortimer, Associate Professor of Early Modern History at Christ Church, joins the series' resident mathematician Jamshid Derakhshan, Lecturer in Pure Mathematics at St Hilda's College.

In Numbers is a new eight-part programme of panel discussions and poetry workshops exploring how mathematics underpins the historical mind of Oxford. In odd weeks we will hear from leading academics on the ways in which mathematics interacts with the humanities. In even weeks, poetry workshops will draw on these discussions.

Events are free and all are welcome. To find out more, email smv.heritage@gmail.com.
