Medical Humanities Symposium Funding Call

Are you a postgraduate student or early career researcher, engaged in research in the humanities in the University of Oxford? Are you working on topics relating to health, medicine, and disease? 

In Trinity 2022, TORCH will sponsor up to two symposia in the Medical Humanities up to £500 each!  

We will provide a venue and support, including an online platform for any hybrid elements, along with support from members of the TORCH team. We will also advertise the event widely on the TORCH website and on social media.

Applicants should submit a 2-page maximum proposal that includes:

  • One to two paragraphs detailing the area to be explored including which of the following two categories the application is being submitted under: (1) Any field of medical humanities or (2) Global health humanities
  • An explanation of the remit for any call for papers  
  • An outline of the format for the day, and likely participants, including external speakers and groups to be invited
  • Details of costs 

Eligibility

  • At least one lead applicant should be engaged in research in the humanities
  • Named researchers should be drawn from more than one department of the University.
  • Senior researchers may also be included in applications.
  • Inter-divisional applications are encouraged where appropriate.  
  • Please note that we will not fund websites or Zoom licences as these will be provided by TORCH

 

Important dates:

·       The symposia must take place before the end of July 2022.

·       Closing Date for Applications:  22 April 2022, by 12 noon (BST).
