We are thrilled to announce our 2023 symposium which will take place across two days, and delighted to welcome our wonderful speakers. Please see below for the full list of talks.

DAY 1, Monday 20th November

Noon Gabriela Minden (Cardiff) ‘T. S. Eliot, Rupert Doone, and the Performance of Poetry’

1.15 Lunch

2pm Yolande Yorke and Yorke Dance Project (London). Live performance/demonstration Martha Graham and mid-twentieth-century American contemporary dance.

5.30 pm Mark Franko (Temple U, Philadelphia) ‘“A Subtle System of Feints”: Phenomenological Description and Theatricality in Foucault’s “Las Meninas”’.

 

DAY 2, Tuesday 21st November

10-1pm Liam Francis and dancers: Making New Work. Come and watch Liam creating research through practice and join the conversation.

2pm Keynote. Sir Alistair Spalding (Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Sadler’s Wells) on creating a dance house in London.

3.30-5.45pm

Lucia Ruprecht (Berlin) ‘“Still not Still”: Ligia Lewis’s Wayward Bodies’.

Alexandra Kolb (Roehampton) ‘On Air’.

Meindert Peters (Oxford) ‘A Breath of Fresh Air: De Keersmaeker’s Adaptation of Rilke’s Die Weise von Liebe und Tod des Cornets Christoph Rilke’.

5.45 pm Break
