Launched in 2021, Science Together is an exciting public engagement programme that connects Oxford’s community groups with researchers from the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University to respond to issues and questions impacting the lives of local people.

Research projects grounded are defined by community groups, with practical outcomes that address particular challenges or opportunities they have identified for people who live and work in Oxfordshire.

Be part of Science Together

Interested in working with community groups and developing your public engagement skills this year? Science Together connects university support staff and researchers with community organisations across Oxfordshire, to respond to pressing issues and local priorities together.

No previous experience of public engagement with research is required; just an enthusiasm to work with diverse community groups in an equitable manner, valuing and respecting first-hand knowledge and lived experience. Science Together researchers can be from any discipline and at any career stage from postgraduate study onwards, and to be a project facilitator all you need is strong interpersonal and organisational skills and a keen interest in the programme.

Training for our 2023/24 year will be provided in the autumn, along with networking and development sessions to help identify collaborative research projects. Ongoing support and funding provided, to help get projects off the ground.

We are currently actively looking for Oxford researchers in any discipline to partner with the community groups and for university staff with an interest in public engagement to act as facilitators for the new collaborations in 2023/24, with free training starting in September 2023.
