All Welcome
Across countries, contexts, and time periods, queer artists have used art, theatre, storytelling, poetry, film, and so much more to confront violence and injustice. Through art communities imagine new communities and forms of relationship, and construct new ways of being and thinking in the world. This roundtable brings together artists and academics to discuss the queer potential of art, and question the boundaries of academia and activism. With perspectives from Colombian and Mexican artists, alongside leading academics working on queer social and cultural history, and art and culture in contentious politics, this roundtable frames the discussion around the role of art, it’s positionality, potential, and pitfalls.
Join us for an engaged discussion which frames a week of events exploring queer art against violence. This week culminates in the UK premier of Jhonnathan’s play
Bodies Condemned by Oblivion, newly translated into English, and performed at the Schwarzman Theatre on Wednesday 28th October.
