TORCH Interdisciplinary Futures Hilary 2023 Funding Call

Bunch of blue cable lights

We would like to invite applications for the “TORCH Interdisciplinary Futures” funding initiative, which is open to current MSt and BA candidates at Oxford. “Interdisciplinary Futures” aims to attract groups of students interested in ideas of interdisciplinarity and/or who are developing interdisciplinary projects. Participants should include Humanities students, but can also include students from other divisions.

The initiative offers candidates the opportunity to collaborate in a number of ways, e.g., workshops and reading groups. These communities of young scholars will be able to critically consider historical, cultural, or aesthetic ideas or methodological issues. We are particularly interested in applications that take a culturally diverse and/or transnational approach to an issue or set of related questions.

This initiative will provide senior mentorship and logistical support to successful applicants. The maximum expenditure will be £500, which should be for activities to be completed by 30 June 2023. In-kind support includes use of rooms in the Radcliffe Humanities building (depending on availability), advertising through TORCH’s website and social media, space on the TORCH online blog, bookings on TORCH’s zoom account (if dates available), and advice on events best practice and safety. Note: we do not typically fund other websites, as we offer space on the TORCH website.

If you would like to discuss a possible application, would like guidance of eligible costs and budget breakdown or have questions, please contact the TORCH Operations Manager, Sarah Clay on sarah.clay@humanities.ox.ac.uk

Applications should be sent to the TORCH team (torch@humanities.ox.ac.uk) by Monday 30 January 2023 at 12 noon. Applicants will be asked to include the names of the proposed participants (no less than three), confirmation of their student status, and a budget breakdown. Successful applicants will be invited to contribute a blog post on the TORCH website.

We aim to respond to all applicants within 3 weeks of the deadline closing.
