This is an exciting and challenging role responsible for the day-to-day and longer term management of the Humanities Cultural Programme’s events. The postholder will be responsible for leading on the planning and delivery of high-quality, year-round Humanities public engagement and events (including digital) programme. The Event Manager is part of a small team, overseen by the Head of Cultural Programming and Partnerships, and led by a senior coordinator, who are responsible for the management, development and delivery of the Humanities Cultural Programme.

The postholder will be required to develop and be part of groups internally and externally within the academic and professional community of the University, and to liaise with a broad range of external partners, institutions, and organisations. The postholder will work closely with the rest of the team and academics associated with TORCH (The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities) as part of the Divisional Office and all Humanities Faculties. This will involve working with and influencing senior stakeholders in TORCH and across the University. The postholder will also be responsible for supervising the work of other members of the HCP team as required and relevant to the portfolio of projects they manage.

This role requires excellent project management and organisational skills, significant professional experience of events and operations management, specialist cultural programming skills, diplomatic people management skills, and strengths in building and maintaining relationships with academics and external cultural organisations. Working largely independently, you will need to relate well to staff at all levels.

If, for any reason, you have taken a career break or have had an atypical career and wish to disclose this in your application, the selection committee will take this into account. The selection committee will also be mindful of the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic may have had on candidates’ careers as a result of additional caring responsibilities or other factors.

For more information, contact Dr Victoria McGuinness (victoria.mcguinness@humanities.ox.ac.uk), Head of Cultural Programming and Partnerships.

Applications must be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your application. The deadline for applications is 12:00 noon on Wednesday 1 June 2022. Interviews are expected to be held on Wednesday 15 June.
