Join us for our upcoming reading group session on 'Language, Education, and Technology' with a specific focus on debates from the Global South. This session will explore the dynamics of how language, AI and technology influence educational practices in regions beyond the Western context, based on evidence from some empirical research. This session will examine the multifaceted relationships between language, education, and technology, addressing critical questions such as the impact of technological advancements on diverse linguistic communities, and the challenges and opportunities faced by countries in the global south in adopting new educational technologies. The discussions will draw from a diverse range of readings and perspectives, shedding light on the nuances of language diversity, the potential of technology in language preservation, and the power dynamics inherent in educational systems. The session will then explore how these factors shape learning experiences and knowledge dissemination, particularly in regions that have historically been underrepresented in global discussions on these topics.
