Medieval Women’s Writing

About

The Medieval Women’s Writing (MWW) research group aims to centre women’s writing as an interdisciplinary field, creating a space for researchers to explore and discuss the female voices of the past through a variety of approaches. Each term we host a reading group and research seminar series and are planning to hold a one-day conference in June 2024.

  1. Reading Group: This group is designed to be an inclusive forum for students and scholars at all levels, faculties, and backgrounds to share and expand their knowledge about medieval women’s writing.  It is an informal and welcoming space, held every two weeks with specific session focuses and texts.
  2. Research Seminar Series: This seminar series is designed to be a more formal research space to give Oxford students and ECRs the opportunity to present their research.
  3. MWW Conference 2024: The one-day workshop builds on the reading group and research seminars, with the aim of extending the network beyond Oxford. It is directed towards graduate students from all universities, seeking to connect separate disciplines and faculties through this shared research focus. To be as inclusive as possible, the workshop is targeted towards those working on ‘Medieval Women’s Writing,’ but is also open to papers on female narratives in general. The Call For Papers will be advertised in January 2024.
