About the project:

This event was an immersive experience. If you had signed up to receive one of the limited mailed copies of the poem written by Alice Oswald, you should have received it by 30 November. At the stroke of midnight, participants were invited to open their poem and step outside to read it. Full details were provided with the mailed poem.

If you were unable to sign up for a mailed copy, you were instead invited to click the link above at midnight to enjoy a slightly different experience for the evening. The performance was released via the TORCH Oxford YouTube channel at midnight.

This was a global event, with participants taking part from the UK and 19 countries worldwide across five continents. Participants were invited to respond to the event and share their experiences in any format they chose—words, photos, dance, song—or simply by offering questions or comments.
