This network was funded from November 2022 to June 2023.
The Islamic Studies Network (ISN) aimed to connect and showcase the work of postgraduates who research Islam at Oxford. The objective of the Network was twofold:
1. to create a social space, foster community, and open opportunities of collaboration, for postgraduate researchers of Islam across the different faculties and divisions at the University, and
2. to assist in the dissemination of knowledge that is being produced by postgraduates on Islam at the University.
Each term, the ISN hosted a research colloquium to provide postgraduate scholars of Islam the chance to share their research. In addition to this research colloquium, the ISN supported DPhil students interested in running events related to the Network’s objective. Examples have included a Discussion Group on Islamic Philosophy and Theology led by Sina Maghami Nick, and a Reading Group on Lived Islam led by Anika Kabani and Alice Catanzaro.
