This lecture will focus on the Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem in the Early Islamic Centuries. It is connected to the exhibition 'The Ultimate Journey' showing at OCIS between 6 February to 20 June 2026. Open daily between 2pm - 3pm daily and from 4.15pm on Wednesday 13 May 2026, ahead of the lecture.

Speaker:
Dr Harry Munt is a Senior Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of York. His research and teaching focuses on the history of the Islamic world, ca. 600–1500. In particular, he works on the history of the Arabian Peninsula in the early Islamic centuries, Islamic holy cities and pilgrimage, and Arabic history-writing in the medieval period.
