Katharina Friege is a Junior Research Fellow at Merton College. Her research as a historian focuses on mass media, gender, and identity in 20th century Europe. Kat is currently working on a post-doc project dedicated to humour about the Second World War in its far-reaching aftermath. She is especially interested in the ways people experienced humour and laughter in relation to cultural memories and national narratives of wartime alongside processes of post-conflict ‘normalisation’ after 1945.
