Will Inscoe's passion for music began at the age of 5 when he began piano lessons. In 2010 he became a chorister at Canterbury Cathedral. During his choristership he was runner up in the annual David Willcocks chorister composition competition as well as runner-up 2 years in a row in BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year competition in 2014 and 2015. In 2015 aged 12 he achieved Distinction in ABRSM grade 8 singing, followed by Distinction in grade 8 piano and Merit in grade 8 percussionat the age of 15. The same year Will gained a place at the Junior Royal Academy of Music to study Composition and Percussion and was crowned Kent Young Pianist of the Year. Since then he has composed pieces for orchestra, brass ensemble and SATB choir. He went on to gain the piano chair at the National Youth Jazz Orchestra Academy Big Band and moved to the jazz course at the Junior Royal Academy. Will has been Assistant Musical Director and Principal keyboard for two school productions: Peter Pan and Chicago. He was a Music and Drama scholar at St Edmunds School Canterbury and thoroughly enjoyed being involved in both subjects. In December 2019 he was the winner of the Worcester College Oxford Carol Composition Competition and his carol was performed by Worcester College Choir, St. Edmund’s Chapel Choir and Canterbury Cathedral Choir in the same month. Will is now in his 3rd year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama studying Jazz Piano. He is heavily involved in the UK jazz scene performing regularly with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and other prominent jazz artists in venues such as Ronnie Scotts, Pizza Express, Olivers and many more. Will also plays Bass Guitar in the Bauhaus Band and sings as well as arranging for vocal jazz ensembles.
