bodleian library 1593689

Our partners at the Bodleian Library are seeking an Academic Editor based in the Centre for Digital Scholarship to play a leading role in developing and implementing the Bodleian’s policy and strategy on the  Electronic Enlightenment resource in the context of our wider text collections.

The Centre for Digital Scholarship is a space and place for the Bodleian Libraries to engage, lead and shape discussions around digital scholarship practice and research within and beyond the University of Oxford.

Electronic Enlightenment is a digital resource based within the Centre for Digital Scholarship and the Bodleian Digital Library. It has evolved over three decades to become a leading resource for researchers, academics and students as it contains almost 80,000 letters and documents from over 10,000 correspondents.  There are 150 subscribers worldwide with sales and marketing managed in partnership with Oxford University Press.

You will be someone with deep subject knowledge of the Enlightenment from any disciplinary background, with knowledge and experience of scholarly literary or critical editing. You will be able to represent both the Electronic Enlightenment project, the Bodleian Libraries and the interests of contributing editors to the resource. Good communication is key, as you will need to work with a variety of partners and colleagues to identify and acquire new content for Electronic Enlightenment. You will be able to see the broader strategic context, and work with Bodleian colleagues as you develop a content strategy that considers academic quality, commercial viability, and the Bodleian’s strategic priority to diversify our digital collections.
