In Concert With The John Harle Saxophone Quartet

The Humanities Cultural Programme is delighted to welcome incredible English saxophonist and composer, John Harle, to Oxford. Prof. Harle is working closely with Tom Kuhn (Professor of 20th-century German literature) on the music of Hanns Eisler and of other composers associated with Bertolt Brecht’s work. John will also work closely with video artists at the Ruskin School of Art and composers at the music faculty on film/video collaborations.

This concert is the second event in the introductory weekend of Prof. Harle’s visiting fellowship at the Humanities Cultural Programme, being hosted at the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building. In this immersive, scintillating evening, audiences will have the opportunity of enjoying John Harle’s incredible work, and witness his own saxophone quartet play music by Eisler and other 20th-century composers. This event is being held at the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building at St. Hilda’s College.
