Lunchtime Discussion | Researching Humanities: To those We Treasure

Humans in Humanities Network

Friday 13 February 2026, 12.40pm – 1.40pm

Learning Centre, Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, Oxford, OX2 6GG

All welcome

What does being a humanities researcher mean to you? Why did we, for our various reasons, choose this path? What do we care about, and what do we treasure? How do we relate our research to the wider world around us? Are the things we treasure always given a voice within academic contexts?

The TORCH Humans in Humanities Network hosts regular lunchtime discussions throughout term time. These sessions explore researchers’ human identities, engagement with humans in research, and humanities traditions of theorising and re-imagining the human. We are keen not only to hear about your research, but also about you, and the many human experiences behind the work.
