An inquiry into the origins, strength, and credibility of current disruptive questions about the relevance and viability of the humanities, as well as ideas for reinventing the humanities at a time of imperative self-examination in U.S. higher education.

Anne Tria Wise is Director of the National Arts & Sciences Initiative at The Phi Beta Kappa Society. In this presentation, she will consider the question, In a mad-cap policy world that values academic programs based on “market-driven strategic demand,” can we reframe perceptions of the humanities from trash to treasure?
