The summer school will be preceded by the East Coast Indo-European Conference (ECIEC 45), which will take place between Friday 19 June and Sunday 21 June.
Modules and instructors:
The summer school will consist of four modules, taught by specialists in the field:
Anatolian and Indo-European – Prof. Jay Jasanoff (Harvard) and Prof. Antony Yates (UCLA)
Cuneiform Luwian – Prof. Petra Goedegebuure (Chicago)
The Hittites: Texts and Contexts – Dr. Mark Weeden (UCL)

Requirements
The Summer School is open to everyone, and there are no specific prerequisites, but some familiarity with basic linguistic and grammatical terminology will be assumed. Knowledge of one or more ancient Indo-European languages will be an advantage.
Costs
The fee will cover tuition, lunches, and tea breaks, but no accommodation. All participants are responsible for travel and other living expenses in Oxford. Some bursaries will be available (see below).
Early bird fee (until 1 April 2026) – £190 students (incl. Ph.D.) and unwaged, £240 others
Regular fee (until 15 May 2026) – £240 students (incl. Ph.D.) and unwaged, £290 others
Online attendance (until 1 June 2026) – £180 (all categories)

Please note that you will be automatically registered once you complete the transaction, so there is no need to email us afterwards.
Accommodation
While accommodation is not included by default in the summer school, we have secured 30 ensuite Hotel rooms at the Linton Lodge, with breakfast included (the first 10 at £139/night; the remaining 20 at £152/night). Should you wish to book it, please email the hotel at dm@lintonlodge.com and use ‘Faculty of Classics 22nd June’ as the subject of the email. You will then be sent further instruction for payment. Deadline: 31 March.
Bursaries
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we will have a limited number of (total and partial) bursaries available to cover the registration fee for in-person attendees. Should you wish to apply for a bursary, please send an email to michele.bianconi@ling-phil.ox.ac.uk with your CV and a statement (of circa 500 words) explaining why you would like to attend the summer school. The deadline for a bursary application is 15 March 2026. You will be notified of the outcome of your application shortly thereafter, and you will be reimbursed after attending the summer school.
