Speaker: Professor Anthea Butler
 
Pope Leo XIV apology for slavery embedded in his first encyclical has raised eyebrows and hopes, but it an apology that holds weight? Professor Butler will discuss the latest encyclical in light of the apology for slavery, his historic recent Trip to Africa, and what this might mean for Black Catholics in the diaspora.
 
Biography: Professor Butler is a Senior Koch Fellow at Wadham College, and is the Geraldine R. Segal Professor of American Social Thought at the University of Pennsylvania.
