Panel on Religion, Poetry and South Asia

The Oxford Islamic Studies Network is delighted to announce that Ali Asani (Harvard University) and Ankur Barua (University of Cambridge) will deliver a panel on Religion, Poetry and South Asia on Tuesday 13 June 2023.

Ali Asani will speak about the polyvalent nature of the devotional literatures of South Asia and their role as sites of alternative knowledge and authority. Ankur Barua will outline some liminal Hindu-Muslim spaces from Bengal which sing of the divine reality as the innermost beloved.
