Abstract:

This Method workshop will explore 3D tools with a specific emphasis on engaging academics and heritage professionals with 3D digitisation and publishing, as well as some suggestions for best practice regarding how to reach intended external audiences with this content. Hands-on activity: If you can, please bring along an object you wish to capture in 3D. Your object should be a minimum of 20cm in size and you should avoid subjects which are: transparent (e.g. glass), reflective (e.g. polished metal), a single, uniform colour (e.g. a white coffee cup), very delicate (e.g. a feather). Some ideal candidates might be: a small ornament or statue, a toy (not a uniform colour), or a stone! Joint initiative between the Heritage Pathways - TDEP Project (Professor Kathryn Eccles) and the Digital Humanities and Sensory Heritage Network based at TORCH (Dr Emanuela Vai).
