Episode 1 explores English literary encounters with the city that took place before Christopher Isherwood’s famous Berlin stories. We talk to co-curator and academic expert Stefano Evangelista (Oxford University) and to Sandra Meyer (University of Vienna) who explains how Isherwood, W. H. Auden and Stephen Spender created a myth of Berlin through their writings.
